Resident gets even with grumpy 70-year-old neighbor after he keeps calling the police for their legal parking jobs: 'Not all neighbors are like this, right?'

There was only one way for this resident to get his neighbor get off his back and that was to drive him crazy.

In virtually every neighborhood, there is a curmudgeon who cannot help but stir up trouble and cause drama to fill their days. It's as if the very elements that give the rest of his life (water, nutrients, etc.) are not enough to keep your neighborhood curmudgeon alive; instead, they must make enemies with someone in their near vicinity in order to stay alive.

For this 70-year-old man, the problem involved his new resident's extremely legal parking preferences. The older man decided it was against the rules for the author to park so close to his vehicle, even though the author always left two feet of room. Still, the curmudgeon wasn't having it.

However, although he was very much in the wrong, if the author's parking job really bothered him so much, there was a decent, neighborly way of handling it. The older man could have politely suggested an alternative parking spot. He could have kindly explained why it was such an issue for him and opened the door for a potential compromise.

Instead, he decided to handle the situation with the maturity of someone far younger and more immature. The curmudgeon to repeatedly call the police, without fail every single time the author parked in that spot. That meant a total waste of time and resources for the police and for the author. After a while, the author was sick and tired of hearing about these complaints, so he decided to take matters into his own hands.

We cannot help but applaud the author for refusing to give in and accept the curmudgeon's ridiculous enforcement of non-existent rules. Rather than cave, he chose to test the boundaries even further, proceeding to park even closer to his vehicle but still within the legal limits. The author even went so far as to make friends with the local police, who were also sick and tired of this fool's constant complaining. This is what happens when you waste everyone's time, sir!
